Living Abroad; Bed Hopping pt. 3 - Media One Hotel Dubai

Hey loves,

The time has come again for me to dish the dirt on my recent hotel stay; bed hopping. This time, I am airing the laundry of Media One Hotel Dubai. Media One Hotel is a hip and trendy 4 Star Hotel located near the Dubai Marina. The hotel is sleek and stylish with a wealth of amenities to accommodate the various guests.

The facilities include: bedrooms, suites, an exercise room, business center, pool, sun deck, two restaurants, and two bars. Media One Hotel dubs itself as a stylish boutique hotel that caters to the hip, business savvy traveler. Its modern and sultry design is extremely engaging and stimulates a wanting to see more.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                        I spent one night at the Media One Hotel before my departure to Rome.  I hadn't ever flown out of Dubai's Airport so I didn't want to risk driving in from AD the morning of. Dubai's morning traffic is very troublesome and mimics cities like Atlanta and Washington, DC. Therefore, I just couldn't chance it.

Because of the construction and the roundabouts, I had a hard time finding the hotel. The Garmin GPS took me to a location in which "she" thought it was, but um, no ma'am, just a parking lot. After about 15 minutes of driving in a circle, I finally asked a random guard and he lead me to the hotel. The drive to the front of the hotel was odd and unclear, but that's how it is until construction is finished I assume.

As with most hotels in Dubai, valet parking is standard. The valet attendants were most courteous and helpful. They were gentle with my things and helped me to get everything inside. Check-in took a little longer than I desired because there was only one receptionist at the time. She tried to assist the luggage attendant with my check-in so I didn't have to wait so long. He did his best and I eventually made it upstairs.

Who takes pictures in elevators? Me that's who!

These are the coolest elevators ever. I probably rode on them about 20 minutes. LOL

Media One Hotel has the hippest rooms that I have been in in a while. Though small, the room is attractive, with large windows, glass walls, an iPod docking station, queen bed, and a desk. At the entrance, there are large closets with ample storage. The second photo above was taken from the bathroom. The glass walls help the room to feel larger.

Most things about the Media One Hotel were fantastic. My complaints include; an additional charge for internet service and the horrible front desk receptionist that. I forgot her name but if I see her again, I will be sure to report specifics to management. Not only was her attitude curt towards me, she was pretty sassy with the assistant general manager while trying to solve the internet issue. She definitely needs additional training in proper tone and service with a smile.

One spoiled potato can sometimes ruin the pot; but not this time, I can't wait to book with Media One Hotel again.

Additional pics can be seen here.

Parle in Paris

Good morning loves,

I believe I'm back and almost recovered from 3 weeks of travel. In my previous posts, I shared pictures from Rome and being snowed in in Little Rock, AR; such "joy" in being snowed in without electricity but carrying on....

By the time I left Rome, I declared it as my new favorite city. The architecture was simply amazing. The energy, the air, the people, and the food, all tickled my spirit like no other....until... I arrived in Paris. From the moment I landed in Paris, I knew I would enjoy this destination.

I flew in via Little Rock, to Chicago, to London, to Paris. That wasn't my original flight plan but flights via American Airlines were exceptionally late that day. Because of their tardiness, I missed several connecting flights which put me in Paris hours behind schedule but luckily I made up for time during the latter days.

Anyway...that's another post.

Seeing and experiencing the depth of history in Paris is breathtaking. It's amazing to see such beauty, such craftsmanship, and the artistry of several hundred years. I was finally able to connect to the images and tales from grade school social studies and history. Paris has such a mix of old world charm and modern flare.

Paris definitely does not fall short when it comes to tantalizing beverages. Everything from the tap water, hot chocolate to the wines are all satisfying.

I was slightly disappointed in the food selections. I wanted to try authentic Parisian cuisine but I couldn't find that exact thing. There were lots of breads, cheeses, wines, and dishes with an Italian influence so I was left a bit short in that department. However, I plan to return to Paris during this summer and I will not be challenged or left short by the lack of Parisian dishes.

Overall, my trip went well and Paris is now my new favorite city.

Please enjoy more pics here
