The First 48; Our Favorite Detective

For homicide detectives, the clock starts ticking the moment they are called. Their chance of solving a case is cut in half if they don't get a lead in THE FIRST 48™.

If you're into reality TV like millions of others, then the A&E hit series is no foreigner in your household. The First 48 is an intense, real-life crime investigation show located in selected cities throughout the US. I've been a fan of the The First 48 for quite some time. My affair began with the Memphis crew: Detectives Armstrong and Mason. Everyone, including myself, was so intrigued on how Detective Mason remained so fly while solving some of the grittiest crimes around. After the Memphis crew changed cast members, many fans shifted their attention to the Birmingham crew and for good reason.

The Birmingham episodes of The First 48 did not disappoint viewers. The crimes were intense, engaging, and drew viewers in with hopes for closure. In addition, this cast had a detective that attracted a huge female following. If you haven't guessed the reason already, the newest variable was Detective Anderson.

Detective Anderson is the handsome, 6'5 embodiment of masculine style, intellect, and modest charm. According to his many fans, it is his calm, mysterious nature that captivates their attention.

I had the opportunity to speak with Detective Anderson about his role on the show and life as plain ole Chris. As I anticipated, chatting with Detective Anderson (Chris) was like speaking with an old classmate or brother. I was tickled by his southern drawl and humor. I inquired about life in Birmingham, balancing an emotionally charged job with home life, and life after The First 48.

Anderson shared that he's able to maintain balance and peace in his life by relying on his faith, family, and friends. In his free time, he mentors and coaches youngsters. He added that he enjoys attending his children's events particularly sporting events. He too was a athlete in school but has passed the torch to his children. His family enjoys his celebrity but they mostly see him as "hubby and dad". We concluded our conversation with chats about life's transitions such as our upcoming class reunions, friends from high school, and approaching the big 40 in a few years.

It was a pleasure chatting the Detective Anderson; he's truly "the boy next door".

Swimwear 2012

Summer 2012 is right around the corner. If you are a procrastinator like me, you are now scrambling to find great swimwear. With mixed trends that include bold colors, finding the perfect swimwear has become quite a challenge.

Typically, I can find great pieces at Old Navy, Macys, or Nordstroms, but I am having trouble making my final selection. Here's what I've picked so far. Tell me which you like best.

If you don't like any of them, send me a link to a few more. I need a few new suits pronto. My midsection is the "trouble" section so NO two pieces and such.

The Middle East, Sherel's Hats, and a Hint of Fashion

In an effort to make my transition to Abu Dhabi seamless,  I am reaching out to those who work in my field via Facebook Groups as well as other bloggers. Recently, I happened upon two of the most stylist ladies in the Middle East; The Fierce Diaries. In their May 11 post, New Designer: by Chance the readers were introduced to a new collection, designers, and reps of fashion Marissa Sennzon and Rasha Reyn. The By Chance Collection and Sherel's Hats are amazing and in short, all of the finds are stunning.

Today's post is about Sherel's Hat. Sherel's is a boutique with fashionable hats from dressy to casual. Hats have made their way back into the fashion scene by providing a functional accessory with a big punch of style. Sherel's offer unique well manufactured pieces with a ton of personal flair.

Are you into hats this season?

I am. I loved being at the Derby and seeing all the gorgeous hats.

the Baby Shopaholic + Neiman Marcus = Greatness

Last week, I had the esteemed pleasure of attending a fashion trends event with The Baby Shopaholic and Neiman Marcus. From the picture above, you can see the event was "all that". Trina's (The Baby Shopaholic) shoes held down the entire event.

Style adviser, Dave Ferguson, gave his expertise on spring and summer trends. If you didn't know, YELLOW is the color of the season along with bold pops of green for summer and fall, turquoise, and mixed patterns.  Making personalized statements with accessories is recommended topped with a stylish shoe and clutch.

If you haven't already, follow The Baby Shopaholic as well as the other fashion, beauty and lifestyle bloggers at the event.

Enjoy more pics on my Facebook Page.

May Photo a Day - Days 4 & 5

May Photo a Day #5

Something I can't live without - COFFEE

I've tried on several occasions to cool the caffeine but it's hard. I'm a fiend for caffeine. I guess I'll try again one day. #LIES. I'm moving to a place where drinking coffee is a sport and good coffee is all around so I'll kick another habit, but not coffee.

My Closet - Day 6

I have a pretty good sized walk in closet and it was hard to capture in one shot, so I cheated and combined three. My closet is bare these days because I'm packing winter things and throwing out in droves...yall know why right...because I'm moving to ABU DHABI. :)

PS. Yes that's a poster of me in my closet. Doesn't everyone have a poster of themselves in their closets? Of course you do.

Who Loves Prada - I do!

Reginia wins again!

A few weeks ago, I happened upon a give-a-way by Total Image by Secret. Sylvia is a celebrity image strategist and consultant. She owns a boutique-sized image consulting firm that assists celebrity and business clients improve their brand, marketability, and image.

I saw the Prada give-a-way via her Facebook Fan Page. (Yall should "LIKE" it). I met Secret last year on the Summer 2011 Chic Boutique Tour. She is a fun person, caring spirit, and has an amazing knack for fashion. She's been on speed dial since we've met. I can't say enough good things about her and her brand, therefore check out her site and FB page. Word on the curb says she's having another give-a-way soon.

May Photo a Day - Day 3 and 4

May Photo a Day Challenge

I'm cheating a bit with this post. I posted day 3 on Instagram but not here (charge it to being sick).

Day 3's challenge was something that makes you happy, my answer, "watching TV".

Day's 4's challenge is something that you're reading. I am reading Bereolaesque. I happened upon him on Twitter (big surprise right). He's provocative, contemporary, and classic. He has a Facebook fan page too. If you're having challenges with appearances, relationships, love, self honor, or just like a good read, Bereolaesque is for you.

Happy Friday!

May Photo a Day - Day 1

Hey yall, I'm back. I've been a little busy and hadn't blogged like I should. I've decided to get back on track with a challenge to myself. I am participating in Reni's May Photo a Day Challenge (even though she's on hiatus because of the playoffs).

There are a few challenges out there, but Reni is dear to me, so I've selected hers.
